Sustainable Buildings Initiative

IBTCI conducted an evaluation of the US Department of State (DoS) Sustainable Buildings Initiative (SBI) following the introduction of several mandates and regulations requiring federal agencies to monitor and introduce greater sustainability and energy conservation efforts and to improve performance regarding the responsible use of energy and water.  IBTCI’s evaluation was a 6-month collaborative effort aimed to collect and analyze data, synthesize it into comparative findings, and report back with conclusions and recommendations. IBTCI evaluated 14 buildings that were part of the SBI initiative through data collection, subject matter interviews, cost & performance analysis, and conducting a desk research study.  An individual analysis of each building was done leading to specific findings in categories such as cost-effectiveness and overall greening performance. IBTCI’s final report consisted of a detailed analysis and assessment for each building and a general analysis of the SBI initiative as a whole.
